![]() See, after the first round of toying with the new system and building various Cubase templates I experienced audio drop-outs and system crashes. I simply couldn’t justify an article about how to choose the best components for your DAW, when my own new system wasn’t working the way it should. So why isn’t at least that article online yet? New sounds to check out.Īnd I did write a 2000+ word article on how to choose your music PC components. So, there was lots of installing and configuring going on. I also got a bunch of new software like Komplete 8 and Omnisphere. No articles for a long time – what happened?Īlmost 3 months ago I finally bought a new PC system. Even though the article is somewhat older, the trouble-shooting methodology is still valid today. ![]() ![]() I removed some links to software that unfortunately is not available anymore. I’ve added more RAM and lots of additional VSTs and sample libraries. Fun fact, I still use the same PC I wrote about here (including the NI Komplete 6 audio interface) for my music productions. I've looked in my manuals, books and online.2021-04 update: this article was published in early 2013. I know it's difficult offsite, but I sure hope someone can steer me the right way as to settings. I have fooled with this until I'm going nutty (nuttier) and am so ready to start recording and learning the basics. Setting up new studio Reaper, Alesis io2 interface, WIndows 8 need settings help! I've looked in my manuals, books and online. Thanks! I know it's difficult ofsite, but I sure hope someone can steer me the righ way as to settings. ![]() With my guitar plugged into the interface, I get sound through the monitors, but it seems to fade away and has a weird chorus-type effect to it. I have tried a lot of different combinations, but I suppose not the right one. But I am lost with all the settings for input/output and so on. I did download the Asio4all driver, also. I downloaded Reaper for evaluation, recorded a short test guitar track, but can't get the sound out of the monitors. Got a brand new pc (with Windows 8, unfortunately), an Alesis io2 interface, some Edirol powered monitors and so on. Computer recording is new to me, but somehow I scrounged up enough equipment to start. For the past couple of years, I've been working whenever I could get a few minutes on a little home studio. ![]()
